Lately there's been some attacks by terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda. The most known attack of Al-Qaeda is the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11th 2001. Ever since attempt attacks by the same terrorist group have been stopped. As seen on the news the Dominican Al-Qaeda member Jose Pimentel who planned to bomb police cars, post offices, and U.S troops returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. He was arrested Saturday November 20 in his apartment in Manhattan. When police went into his apartment the caught him making a bomb that he was going to use. He was going to use the bomb by Sept. 30 to kill Al-Qaeda's U.S born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki. New York police had him under surveillance for over a year. Pimentel has a public profile known as Muhammad Yusuf. He was chared with first degree criminal possession of a weapon as a terrorism, and soliciting support for a terrorism act.
Another attack is the bomb plot in Times Square back in May 1, 2010. Faisal Shahzad plead guilty to the bomb plot in Times Square. He decided to plan his attack on a Saturday because he could injure or kill since it would be crowded. He expected the bomb to explode 2 1/2 - 5 minutes. He didn't hear a sound so he decide to head home. He said that he's a "Muslim Solider". He a part of the answer to the U.S terriozing Muslim countries and Muslim people. He was asked if he was sure that he wanted to plead guilty. He said he wanted to plead guilty and 100 times more. A week before the bomb plot to attack Times Square Shahzad received $12,000 from the Pakistani Taliban through cash drop offs in Massachusetts and Long Island. Ever since Pakistan has arrested 11 people. 2 who played a role in the bomb plot was alleged by an intelligence official. Three men in Massachusetts and Maine were suspected for supplying money to Shahzad were detained on immigration Charges. One has been recently be transferred to New York.
