To Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee

In my book To Kill  A Mockingbird by Harper Lee the main character Scout is a young girl who looks out for her brother and has maturity. At her age which is around 6 and 7, she looks out for here brother Jem. A way she looks out for him is one day Jem and Dill ( who comes to visit his aunt in Maycomb, Albama) decide to leave a note to who they believe is still living cause of all the rumors going around town that Boo Radley who hasn't left his house still lives. Jem and dill want to leave a note so that Boo Radley can come out and meet them. But Scout tries to convince them to not do it. But some how they do she lets them do it. They then end up getting caught by their father Atticus.
Another one way is Jem and Dill want to see if Boo Radley is still in his house. Scout is shocked to hear what their going to to do and tells them that he'll kill them if they disturb him. Scout goes along with them. They see a shadow. Scout, Jem and Dill are shocked and they start running. While their running they hear a roar of a shotgun shatter threw the whole neighborhood. People then started to crowed around the Radley house. Mr. Nathan Radley was standing outside with a shotgun across his arm.
This could have resulted in injury or death. This shows that she cares a lot for her brother Jem and Dill.

Plagiarizing

#1. What the student did wrong was that he/she used words from the original text. What he/she could have done was cited the source.
#2. In Vincent Van Gogh: Starry Night by an unknown author the author states how people react to seeing the painting starry night by Vincent Van Gogh in different ways., "There are actually several main aspects that intrigue those who view this image, and each factors affects each individual different" (14-16)
#3. 3 ways to avoid plagiarizing is to reread and think how to reword it. Another way to avoid plagiarizing is if your going to use the exact words cite it. And another way is to take notes on what your reading and use your notes to reword it.

Article Assigment

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/chris_mannix/04/08/knicks.bulls/index.html

The Article that I read is about how Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks had a season high 43
Carmelo Anthony's season-high 43 points kept the Knicks in line for a playoff spot. points against the first place team in the Eastern conference Chicago Bulls. The author of the article states that this is what Carmelo should be doing for the rest of the season. Which I agree with the author because since they Knicks are in 8th place in the Eastern conference they need to try and win if they want to stay in the playoff picture since the Milwaukee Bucks are looking to pass the knicks to be in the playoffs.
Ever since Carmelo was traded to the Knicks last year he has been having bad moments according to sports illustrated. But on April 8 against the Chicago Bulls Carmelo helped the Knicks to defeat the Bulls. This is one of his good moments. Which also shows something. Earlier in the season fans were saying that Carmelo was hogging the ball to much. This shows that Carmelo hogging the ball is a good thing.
This also shows that if the Knicks stay in 8th place at the end of the season the Knicks will have to face the bulls in the playoffs. There showing that their able to beat the bulls and possibility defeating the bulls to go to the 2nd round. Also shows that just Carmelo he can help the Knicks defeat the Bulls without Jeremy Lin. When Jeremy Lin comes back( Which won't be in the 1st round) the Knicks will be able to go further with Carmelo and Jeremy.
In the end Carmelo is showing that him hogging the ball can help the Knicks and their hopes into getting into the playoffs.

Review On Blogs

The 2 blogs that I liked the most were George's in class 813 and Anthony's in class 810. What I liked about George's was that he supported his main topic about irony being in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakesphere with evidence from the book. Anthony's is about a book he's reading called Warriors Don't Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals. He states what has happen so far up to where he has read to and how he reacted to it.
What I could do to improve my own blog entries is to try to improve how I explain what has happen in a book that I'm reading so that the people reading the blog entry be able to understand it more. Also improve how I explain how i react/feel about the book. I could also improve my essay blog entries by giving more specific details. And try to make my essays longer than usually to show evidence to support my main idea more.

Romeo an Juliet Response 2

Shortly after Romeo and Juliet meet each other at the Capulet's feast. They see each other again. Romeo scales a wall to enter the Capulet's garden to see Juliet. After Romeo finishes speaking Juliet starts to say how she will no longer be a Capulet. Here I think that Juliet wants to be with Romeo and get married with him instead of Paris. I also think that Romeo could be afraid of the dark because in Act 2 Scene 2 line 146-147 he says O blessed, blessed night! I am afeard, Being in the night,".

Romeo and Juliet Act 1 Scene 1 Response

Dear Bob,

Today in my class we started to read Romeo and Juliet. So far we have read Act 1 Scene 1. It starts off by the Montague's(Romeo's family) and the Capulet's(Juliet's family). The fight started by two servants of the Capulet's. The servants Sampson and Gregory are waling together on the street and Sampson says how he would do things to the the Montague's maids. Shakespeare uses some inappropriate words to say that Sampson will like rape them. They then bump into a Montague and then start talking which then leads to a fight between the Capulet and Montague families. The Prince then comes to end the fight and warns them that one more if the fight one more then they will have to pay the forfeit of the peace since this is their 3rd time fighting.
I found that reading Shakespeare is interesting but at the same time a little hard to read. Some words are difficult to say. I was so into the book that I accidentally read up to scene 3! I can't wait to read more

My Car Sonnet

It has a beautiful red hood that it hurts,
It hurts so much that I can see my reflection
Its so beautiful that I can eat of it,
But not because I would have to clean it
It burns rubber that others behind me can't see,
I can hear them scream at me for it
I remember the day I walked in to buy it,
The person that sold it to me soon became my with

I remember the first of ever thing that happen with my car,
Like the time I drove my wife to our wedding
I remember I made my hit single in it,
I also remember hearing it in it for the first time

With out my car how would my life be,
My life wouldn’t be like this at this moment.

What Happens to A One Chance In A Life Time Deferred?

Is it if you just fail?
Or is it just if it
didn't happen?

Is it just like crumbling
a piece of paper?
Or is it just like abandoning
a one chance in a life time?

The History Of Mexico By Diego Rivera

The History of Mexico Mural at National Palace in Mexico City, Mexico

Diego Rivera was born on December 8, 1886 in Guanajuato, Mexico along with his twin brother to Diego and Maria Rivera. Diego's brother died two years later in the year 1888. A year after his brother's death he started painting. As a kid Diego was very much into painting that his dad covered some of the walls in their house with paper when ever Diego would draw on the walls. Diego attended the San Carlos Academy in Mexico City. The Governor of Veracruz offered Diego a scholarship to study in Madrid, Spain. Diego was taught be amny famous artist such as Santiago Rebull, Jose Maria Velasco, Jose Guadalupe Posada, Dr. Alt, and Eduardo Chicharro. Diego was asked to paint a mural at the RCA building but ended up changing the mural to a different paint of people disliking his idea. Diego submitted sketches of his mural and the project coordinator Nelson Rockefeller approved it. People disliked it because he had included Vladimir Lenin.
Diego's Mural "The History of Mexico" shows famous events in Mexican history such as the conquistadors fighting the Aztecs and famous and the Mexican War of Independence. Diego painted this mural at he staircase at National Palace in Mexico City. As a kid Diego was very interested in Mexican history. Diego wanted to incorporate famous people in history such as Hernan Cortes and Mexican War of Independence General and Priest Miguel Hidalgo.
What the painting shows is like a easy to read book of Mexican history. Also you can see Ancient history of Mexico at the bottom and history around the Mexican War of Independence at the top of the painting. Also to me it shows how the Aztecs were defeated by the Conquistadors using new weapons that they never see. Guns. In other words its and inspiring piece of art that reveals Diego's pasion for art and interest in Mexican history

Mexican Whiteboy By Matt De La Pena (2)

Ever since the time Uno knocked down Danny he's been going to Las Palmas Park to work on his pitching. One day Uno starts talking to Danny's cousin Sofia when they decide to walk over to Las Palmas Park to see Danny pitch. Sofia tells Uno that Danny comes down to Las Palmas Park everyday to work on his pitching. They watch him for a while and leave. Uno then comes back and tells Danny that he'll be his catcher. Danny is shocked. He's going to pitch to someone who gave him stitches on the back of his head. Danny pitches to Uno and after that they start getting along. After days of practicing on his Uno tells Danny that they should start betting on batters. By betting them that they can't hit the ball before Danny strikes out. There first hustle was at a near by high school. There were facing the best batter on the team named Carmelo. Danny's first pitch and it goes far away from Uno. Danny is thinking to himself is last year's baseball tryouts. Over and over he keeps on missing. And eventually the other leave with 40 bucks(Uno bet 20 bucks). Uno was shocked to see Danny pitch like that. They continue practicing for a few day until they do another hustle. Again Danny pitches far away from Uno. Uno then walks up to Danny and tells him that its not about him, its about his talent. Danny goes into his windup and pitches a fastball right into Uno's mitt. Strike one yelled Uno. Danny pitches another fastball into Uno's Mitt. Strike two yelled Uno. Danny pitches another fastball and right into Uno's mitt without having to move it. After that they keep on hustling others winning lots of money. Then one day they hustle the same person they started hustling with Carmelo. When Danny pitches to Carmelo he's shocked that he got a strike. After Danny strikes out Carmelo he tells Uno that he wants to go again. Danny strikes him out again and Carmelo says he wants to go again. Danny strikes hi out AGAIN and Carmelo says again. This time there playing for 180 bucks. Danny to Carmelo to get a strike. Uno looks back at Carmelo's friend JJ and see's one of them is close to the hat with the money. Danny pitches to Carmelo. Strike two. Uno see's JJ is even closer to the hat. He shoo's him off. Danny Pitches to Carmelo and strikes him out. Uno Looks back and see's JJ is running off with the money! Uno catches up to him and tackles him to the ground. Then Carmelo and his other friend gain up on Uno and Danny tells them to get off him him when two of them tackle him. Uno is fighting JJ to get the money back. Then some Mexican dude comes into the fight and fights Carmelo and his friends. Uno fights JJ to get the money out of his pocket and they leave. Uno is mad because before he strike him out one last time he told him after strike three to run off to the bus stop and that he'll run to the hat and get the money and catch up to him. Danny said that he couldn't let them hurt him. Uno then gives him half of the 180 bucks.
When I read to the part of Uno wanting to work with Danny it was shocking to me. Someone wanting to work with someone after they hurt them? Just surprising to me. At that I think its the climax of the story. Also how Danny stayed with Uno when he was fighting Carmelo and JJ. That just shows to me that they have bounded really well. There both saving money to see their fathers. Uno wants to go live with his father at Oxnard but needs 500 dollars. Danny wants to visit his father in Mexico and find out why he left.

Mexican Whiteboy By Matt De La Pena

Mexican Whiteboy
by Matt De La Pena  is a book about a kid named Danny who goes to National City to visit his dad's family. When gets there his cousin Sofia introduces him to her friends when he notices at a near by field people are playing baseball. Danny's cousin Sofia notices that he's looking over at that the field she decides to taking him over there. When they get to the field the Derby is taking place that takes place at the baseball every Saturday. Sofia was talking to Uno who is like the main player at the Derby's and is the pitcher of his team. Sofia was telling Uno how Danny will homer anything he throws at him. The first pitch that Uno throws Danny hits over the roof(which is part of the game most homers over the roof wins) making it going over another roof. Uno can't believe his eyes. Danny hit the tennis ball over 2 houses. The second tennis ball that Uno throws Danny hits the tennis ball over both roofs again. The thrid ball goes even higher but not far as the last 2 only going over 1 roof. And the four pitch that Uno throws Danny hits it low almost hitting his hands that the bat slips from his hands going to the sidelines. The was caught by by one of the guys when Chico shouts "Yo, Man! The bat got Manny!(22) Manny is Uno's little brother. He was bleeding all over his face. Uno rushes to aid him. Uno rips off his Raider jersey and presses it against Manny's nose. He then leaves Manny in Chico's care and goes up to Danny telling him why he throw the Bat at his brother. And right there I was thinking to myself that I would say that I didn't know he was his brother and i would apologies. But since Danny was a person that didn't speak much he was say  I'm sorry quietly that Uno couldn't hear him. The next thing that happens is that he knocked by Uno. After that he had to get stitches on the back of his head.

Night By Elie Wiesel

The book Night by Elie Wiesel was just written a few years after World War II. After World War II people didn't want to read books about the Jews experience in concentration camps. Around 10 years after Elie Wiesel was released from Auschwitz he published a book about his experience.
What was different to other books about the work in concentration camps was this was the first book that I read that talks about pickaxing. Unlike in other books they talk about how working in the gas chambers, in the ovens, etc. Also is the first book that read about a father and son being able to see each other unlike other that were separated from their families. The experience that Elie went the with the beatings, the beatings he saw, especial the beating that killed he father. He was afraid that they will beaten so he lay silently on his bed while his father was being beaten.
Its one of the most read book about the Holocaust along with Any Frank The Diary of a Young Girl and If This Is a Man by Primo Levi. The books speak about what they and other Jews suffered in the concentration camps. And shows of what could have not happen if this was stopped.
Every since the end of World War II he has visited Auschwitz a few times. He has in facted visited it once with Oprah Winfrey.
